Ghostly Stairs

It has been eons since I've posted anything. I've been busy knitting away on a hooded sweater for Ronnie and have been trying to squeeze in a luxurious scarf for myself (in preparation for the ultimate knitting project). When I went to photograph my recent projects, and to my great surprise, I found this wonderful photo on my camera...

Perhaps it was a ghost, or an accidental button press, but I like it none the less.

Here is Ronnie's hoodie. So far the back, front and 90% of the hood is done. Hoping to finish up the hood tonight and start on the sleeves this weekend.


It has been hard finishing his hoodie when there is this lil'guy. The yarn is ultra soft alpaca and I can't wait to wear it this fall.

I put a lot of buttons on a jean jacket and went to breakfast.

Mental Block

For my last assignment in my drawing class we have to put together a six page concept package for a wedding design. I am totally stumped.

I would rather have korean barbeque right now!

Drawringzzzzzzzzzzz

Weekly I have to make drawings for my drawing class. Usually they are related to interior design...this week we had to represent 12 words through texture/images in 3"x3" squares.

50th post

What a great weekend! The weather was amazing on friday! I opted for a forest bike ride and rounded it out with pints on a patio-perfect way to enjoy a really nice spring day.

I was also able to finish my super-fun striped vest and I LOVE it.

What to do on a beautiful day off!?!?

I have the day off and it is GORGEOUS out! What to do, what to do? I could go for a bike ride and photograph all that is great about midcentury architecture in this city...or finish my most favourite stripy vest with this beautiful noro silk garden lite yarn..

I've been donating time to review all the misinterpretations...

My last semester of pottery was a bit of a disaster in the sense that I only completed 4 items; none of which were requirements for the course. I did muster up enough skills to produce this little thing:


Sporadically, the college holds a cup competition and there are a few prizes up for grabs. This lil'guy got peoples choice and its name is Rest Your Shino on my Pillow. The cup and "pillow" are wheel thrown with hand-built feet. The glaze is Malcolm Davis Shino and is the same on the cup and the "pillow". The glaze colour is variable depending on the amount of carbon trapping that occurs. The black-grey portions are where the carbon has been trapped. This glaze also gives a crackle/crawling effect.


I also felt like taking a picture of my feet. They shoot knots!

Diorama

My homework assignment is to take a famous chair and redesign it so it is more ergonomically correct. The chair I chose is the Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer. Once the changes are decided I had to make a scale model (1"=1') of the chair and then a room setting for it. The chair was originally designed in the 1920's but its clean lines and classic styling makes it feel modern today. The setting I've chosen is a late 1950's international style administration building.

I changed the angle of the armrests so they are parallel with the seat and 9" above the seat (95th percentile elbow rest height). I've also added lumbar support and raised the back rest to accomodate a 95th percentile males midshoulder height.

Judgement Day Cardigan

I finished this cardigan a while ago.





I like it a lot.

When I was done I had a bunch of extra grey yarn so I decided to make a stripy vest.
